The city is located at almost the exact geographical centre of the Iberian Peninsula - latitude of 40degrees 25m north, 3degrees 42m west - enclosed on a plateau within the mountain ranges of the Somosierra (in the north), Guadarrama (north-east) and Toledo (south) Sierras. Average altitude of the city is 654 metres above sea level (average barometric pressure is 707) mm with its highest point at 694 metres.
